Does anyone get into Harvard without an interview?

Well, it seems that all local applicants have finally been contacted–one just yesterday!

Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

(um, thank you so much, Admiral…)

agldro, if you desire to study at Harvard, you can get into there any time - transfer, even graduate school. Be committed.

transfer –> Almost impossible
Yeah, grad school is still an option
Thanks, G2COM! I think you have pretty good chances to get in. You deserve it :)

As you know, we do not require SAT exams of Chinese applicants since the test is not available in the country, and we realize the significant cost (both in time and money) of traveling to take the exam elsewhere. Your application will not be held at a disadvantage for your lack of SAT scores.

The TOEFL is not required for applicants to Harvard College, though students who take it for other colleges often tell us their scores. Please send us an e-mail when you receive your scores and ask that they be added to your file.

Thank you again for your interest in Harvard College, and best of luck to you
this year.

Does it mean we don’t have to take those tests?? And, Could this letter be a good or bad sign?

Well, you have one Chinese kid who travelled to a neighbouring country to take the SATs (yes, people do that) and one who didn’t. Who would you take? Harvard has no way to judge the difficulty of your school’s courseload and so, having (good) SAT scores would be an undeniable advantage. The SATs are the only way to rule out grade inflation for an Int’l applicant.

It’s like telling a homeschooled applicant that he won’t be disadvantaged in the process; but he will.

gouchicago, thank you for your post.

Was this e-mail completely unrelated with my stats? I talked with an officer.

I don’t know; but you’re atleast better off than me. I didn’t even get a notice for not sending in my FA documents :). Harvard must’ve hated my app.

Perhaps you should contact them. They have 27000+ applicants this year.
