Does anyone have an idea of the threshold stats for OOS tuition waiver at FSU?

Their website is vague. I am really just wondering if the threshold is near perfect stats (like 35 or 36) or high (like 33).

Last year a 31 got an OOS waiver

Thank you! That was the info we needed.

Why don’t you call/email admissions to find out for sure of the threshold for this year?

My dd is only a jr. We are just doing general research. Next yr, the real data will matter. We are just trying to generate a list of possible options. Unfortunately, so far we have had to eliminate most as soon as they make it on to the list. :frowning: Our dd wants to major in Russian, French, and international studies. Her projected language levels by high school graduation dont match well with individual depts offerings. Finding schools that are even close to financially realistic while matching her current language abilities and long term goals is proving very difficult.

I know that FSU (assuming FL State) has a freshman study abroad program that gives students in-state tuition following completion of that program.

@1518mom In-state for the rest of their UG?

Yes, it’s for the remainder of their first UG degree. But that first year abroad comes with a $40,000 price tag.

Thanks for the info. For our family, that study abroad may as well be on the moon. :frowning: Those locations are also of no interest to dd and her goals, so $$ for something completely unrelated is definitely a no go. We will just hope the OOS tuition waivers exist during next yr’s application season.

I am aware of a freshman group now in Panama. I think they met before all heading there but don’t recall the details. Yes the instate waiver is for all 4 years.

@Mom2aphysicsgeek, sorry it won’t help you. I only know of the program because a kid from our HS is participating this year. I knew none of the details except what the kid’s mom told me about the in-state tuition deal as part of the reason the kid chose that school.
