Does anyone know of colleges with good Undeclared/Undecided major explore programs?

For example, Northeastern University has an Explore Program that is for students who are undecided on their major and the program really helps find out what they’re interested in studying. However, Northeastern is a reach school for me and it is very expensive.

Penn State also has a “Discover” program but again, the school is extremely expensive.

So does anyone know any schools (possibly that are cheaper or provide good merit aid) that have good programs like this? Thanks!

Florida International University has a very good exploratory studies program plus its a good, affordable school and they have a lot of options for scholarships.

At any college in the country you can take introductory courses in a bunch of areas. You can talk to department advisers and counselors to find out more about the requirements of majors you are interested in. Around you there will be lots of other students that haven’t picked a major, or having come in with one will have realize they want to do something else. Having taking a class at the webpages for those programs it’s hard to see they are doing something that can’t be done anywhere else.

I’d add that since millions of students go to college each year unsure of their major just about every college offers workshops and advice. For a random example http://www.csus.edu/checkusout/what_to_study/ Another is https://www.admissions.iastate.edu/majors.php?action=undecided You can find these at any college you are thinking about with a quick web search

Basically any college where your possible majors of interest are not filled to capacity (requiring competitive secondary admission processes) should be fine.

However, some majors inherently have highly sequenced prerequisite courses or large numbers of prerequisites, so if these are your possible majors of interest, you need to do your course planning carefully to avoid accidentally closing off any of the possible majors.

Virtually all LACs and many universities have distribution requirements that require you to take courses in many disciplines before choosing a major.
