Does anyone know the sender of these mailings?

Hey, I received several college letters today, they were from different colleges, but were exactly the same in layout (a note saying they’re interested and a replay notice). The problem I have is that my name is spelled way wrong and the address is wrong as well. For all the letters, the mailer’s postmark permit is #64177, zip code is 15290 (Pittsburgh) and it has a non-profit stamp. If this is just a mailing company that colleges pay to send out the letters, then I probably can’t do anything about it. I emailed collegeboard, and I got a response asking for more information. So does anyone know exactly who the sender is? I don’t really want anyone sending me mail with the wrong name and having my neighbor come and give them to me.

I would call a couple of the schools themselves, they don’t want to spend $ for something done so shoddily

And don’t put your SS number on anything like that

Many colleges and universities contract with outside marketing services to handle mass mailings. If you are interested in the college, contact it directly. If not, ignore the mailings.

Hey thanks guys, I contacted one of the colleges this morning and they say told me that it was most likely spam since that particular college does not allow other companies to mail letters for them. Plus the website the mailer told me to visit was not a legitimate website.

D got a bunch of e-mails with links to “priority applications”, but she quickly noticed that those websites end in “dot com”, not “dot edu”. She checked who registered and owned those domain names, and e-mailed one college that she was somewhat interested in. They replied it was legit, but she decided it was too scary to send her private info to some strange marketing company.
