It seems to me that at Christmastime I have seen Crayola crayons sold in tins rather than the usual cardboard boxes. But of course now that I want to buy one I cannot find them.

Well, there’s always Amazon, but of course you are paying more than twice what you’d pay for crayons in the cardboard box:

The Crayola website has one–go to the “products” page, then “shop online”, them “draw and color”, then “crayons”–they don’t make it easy–and you’ll find a 64-crayon set in a tin box for $12.99.

Crayola makes so many other, glitzier products now that I wouldn’t be surprised if the tin box of plain old crayons is hard to find in stores. My kids had one–it served as the crayon storage container for years and years, and now you’ve made me wish I had saved it…

Wow–while I was typing the Amazon answers came in! Same price there, so shipping costs will be the deciding factor. Given that, and the fact that this year’s tin isn’t all that great looking, it might be best to buy a traditional box of 64 colors and pick up a seasonally decorated cookie tin for storage.

spooooky…

You might want to check out an art supply or office supply store as well. I know in the past, I have seen such things in those places (but don’t know whether they remain in stock). Call before making the trip if you’re interested.

Did anyone notice that the Amazon tin seems to be from 2008? Guess crayons never go stale…

I saw them a few weeks ago at Michaels. I think I also saw them at Wal-Mart.
