Does Anyone Watch "What Not to Wear"?

Definitely like Nick…where did he go? bring him back!

Did you see the one where the new guy dyed the girl’s hair trailer trash grocery store box dye orangy blonde all over? That was when he jumped the shark for me, she looked horrid

Did anyone watch last night? I thought their choice of make-over subject was interesting and unusual – for a show like this. They chose a lesbian from the Boston area whose significant other thought she dressed too “butch.”

Not something I ever thought I’d see on TV.

It was interesting how they toned down the butch image without making her all girly.

VH, I missed that one! But I did see the old episode in which a young lady had to get rid of her glittery outfits with fairy wings. Stacey and Clinton did not force her into cropped jacket/dark wash jean style but rather let her choose outfits with flowing fabrics and sewn-on flowers. Nick did a fantastic job with her hair. I miss Nick…

I saw the new episode too and was surprised to see how little resistance she gave to the clothes Stacy and Clinton picked and to the makeup Carmindy applied once she saw herself in a dress. That was obviously a life-altering moment for her. It was interesting to hear her thoughts and feelings during this transformation.

I thought she looked great, too. She seemed to welcome the transformation.

I think they replayed that episode today. I loved her hair. The color and style suited her so much better. The transformation was impressive. I hate shopping, but I’m going to update my wardrobe soon and I’m going to try to incorporate their advice and try on clothes I normally wouldn’t. So many times I don’t like the clothes they choose in the show when they’re on the hanger, but then I really like it once it’s on the person being made over.

I also really, really miss Nick. Although I liked what the new guy did with the witch they made over today. Very nice style on her.

I don’t miss Nick. I didn’t think he listened to the women, and I thought he had a mean streak – the phony drama as he cut their hair off and as he would smirk, “Are you nervous?” The new guy, Ted, is much much nicer. I think Ted’s hairstyles are more varied, too. I think Nick gave most everybody the same hair.

I saw the show with the lesbian biker woman. I thought she would be really resistant to change. It was great when she came out in the black and white dress that Stacy and Clinton picked for her. She seemed so surprised at how good she looked and esp. at how much she liked the way she looked.

I don’t miss Nick either. I agree about the smirk and the sense that he enjoyed the women’s discomfort. Also, I would never go to a hairdresser whose hair looked as dreadful as Nick’s did in his longer curly stage. Not a great fan of Ted, either. But I prefer him.

“I also really, really miss Nick. Although I liked what the new guy did with the witch they made over today. Very nice style on her.”

momlove is the “witch” your referring to the cello player? I don’t usually watch this show but I caught it last night and what an attitude this one had. She needs medication for depression or something, her hair looked great and what a puss she made.

Coskat, nope, not the cello player. They had an actual witch on the show that they made over. Her boyfriend was also a witch (warlock?). I didn’t see the intro, but she kept calling herself a witch as did Clinton and Stacy. Some of her normal clothing actually looked like your typical Halloween witches costumes. Interestingly, at the big reveal her boyfriend was wearing a witches hat and the whole outfit. She come in wearing a red sleeveless dress and looked really pretty. He said she looked beautiful and he could tell how happy she was with her new look. She said she learned through this process that her witches outfits were to be reserved for Halloween; but where does that leave her boyfriend in his full witches wardrobe? I wonder if they stayed together after the transformation…

I have watched this show for years with my daughter. I LOVE the new hair dresser. He is so compassionate to the women about their hair. If there is one part of your look that can get lost in a decade, it is hair. And so many women think “long” means pretty. This new guy really helps the women see past those stereotypes in a really sweet way.

lol Thanks momlove for the clarification. That is funny. I will have to start watching this show more often.

I like the new guy’s attitude, but his hairstyles have been hit or miss. I think Nick was more consistent.

Re: Nick’s hair. I doubt he cuts his own hair. It is like in the puzzle about the town with two barbers… :)

The cello player had major issues. She is definitely a candidate for psychological evaluation for depression. The bra she tried on was a beautiful, the most comfortable Chantelle, and she called it a torture device or something like that?

I really enjoyed the recent episode with “Manny Annie.” I thought it was interesting that her wife said it was out of style for lesbians to basically dress like men. (I think that a whole of of Annie’s clothes were actually men’s clothes.) At first I thought Annie would be unlikable and resistant, but I loved how open she was. It must have been hard for her to be receiving texts from her pals telling her not to turn lipstick. It looked like some of them need a makeover as much as Annie.

I actually own that grey sweater that was in her first post-makeover outfit. That made me feel good because the only other time something I owned was seen on WNTW, it was being mocked and thrown away!

Manny Annie was a lovely “real” person…She was someone you just knew was a really nice person…this from a conservative Christian. It was great to see her find a new “image”.

Loved this episode. Annie still looked like herself afterwards–always a good thing IMHO. I liked it because, finally, somebody with a body like mine! Usually, they are very endowed, if you get my drift.

Ted Gibson can style my hair anytime
Nick Arrojo is stuck on bobs :(

I read that last word too quickly :o
