Hi,
So currently I am in high school and I based off my EC’s, GPA, class rank, and class rigor, I can very, very easily qualify for a full ride to the largest university in our state (which is a very good school in its own respect but no where near being elite). I can either follow the path of having a full ride to a normal university, or I can apply for a few elite universities. Usually, anyone would automatically choose the elite universities over a normal university but the problem is, if I am accepted to the elite school, I will almost definitely not be able to pay for even a quarter of the tuition that is asked of me because I do not qualify for financial aid but I also cannot pay for the tuition since I have other siblings who’s college fund I cannot dip into. My long term goal is medical school, with an enjoyable university experience. So, long story short, is it worth taking student loans out for an elite school for a degree like BioChemistry or Biomedical engineering and then I intend to apply for med school right after, or should I enjoy my full ride to a normal university where I’ll actually make some money (extra scholarship money left over)? Edit: I forgot to mention, the state university I would attend has the best honors college in the nation (based off of many news sources) if that gives an indication of where I am thinking of going.
