I have long considered UCLA a high match/reach. However, I recently received a chancellor’s reception invite from UCSB as a “top applicant” (although i’m not how loosely defined ‘top’ is) of theirs. I am aware that this is not as prestigious as a regents scholarship, but i still think it must mean something.

Now, I am 100% aware that UCLA and UCSB have completely separate admissions offices, BUT would being in the top applicant pool for UCSB mean that I have a shot at UCLA in terms of stats? I have around a 3.75uw, 4.0~4.1 capped gpa and a 4.2 uncapped with a 33ACT, decent ECs, good essays, etc.

If it makes you feel any better, I got the chancellor reception invite from ucsb last year and ended up getting into ucla.
I had a 4.0 uw, 4.6 w, decent ec but lowish sat. There is really no correlation though. I knew people that got the invitation buy got rejected by ucla. Just stop thinking about college apps, you’ll know where you’ll be going by the end of the month.

“Just stop thinking about college apps, you’ll know where you’ll be going by the end of the month.” Good advice haha

I’m only a junior and I see the stress in my senior friends and many CC users. I don’t have to experience this stress for another year thankfully. I would say that you have a chance of admittance at UCLA.
