Like I said, where it counts, Chicago is second to none. And given your self-description, I think it would be a great fit for you. I hope you get in.

my 2 cents worth ![]()
from what i heard for places like mit, harvard etc abt 100 from singapore apply and abt 2 get in and that is considered over-represented for singapore…sigh…why am i applyin???

u applyin coz u can be 1 of those 2 u gets in… as cambridge uni said on its website “we cant offer u admission, unless u apply…”

Wait, it was MIT!

well it applies to all institutions in the world, doesn’t it?
and i thought singapore is an overrepresented country? only 2? mine had 14 applicants last year and 2 got in.

haha…oh well tts what the fella who interviewed me told me…looks like malaysia is over-over-represented…:O

adides: well form one pt of view i only found out only 2 get in much after i applied so i did not apply to be one of those two…but of course ones i found out abt it i have been in my la-la land and fantasizin to get in…;)

omg 30 applications - dont do that - u will get all stuff messed up

lol actually its not that bad if you start january of your junior year, fill common app. check out essays and write them over the year.

Cons : person who does that is the perfect student and will cost waaaayyy too much money :)

What A Levels are you doing? You didn’t mention them at all. You wouldn’t get into any of those places without them

and if you only did those GCSEs, then that wouldn’t be enough either. I’d expect at least 10, mostly A grades

I’m doing the IB, actually, and I’m planning on taking (for next year)

English higher
French Higher
History Higher
Geography Standard
Ecosystems and Societies
Maths Studies

It’s pretty much a humanities-based program I’ve concucted for myself there.

Did I mention I want to pursue studies in Law?

Oh, and my GCSEs are:

English:…A
French:…A(or A)
Geography:A
IT:…A
Biology:…B
Chemistry:.C(I hate chemistry)
Maths:doing it again in May(got 34% the first time- didn’t know there was an exam!)

By the way I’m in 11th grade, and my IB course finishes in 13th grade (last grade)
So that would make me a 10th grader by that crazy American standard (you only have 12 grades, right?)

Anyway I still have a little leeway to steer my grades in the right direction (up).

Are there much dutch people in US top colleges?

Oh yeah! They’re overrunning the place! It’s impossible to go somewhere without bumping into one of those pesky gibberish-speaking kartoffel-eating Hanzes.

Hahah sorry couldn’t help saying that (jk!). Anyway no I don’t think so. However there are a lot of asians.
But why does that matter? people are people. the only competiton is yourself.

Kartoffel eating hanzes? yeah I think those are germans…
dutch people are more like… wooden shoe wearing stoners who grow a lot of tullips in their backyard…
not me though… I’m of course a very well-behaved non-weed-smoking normal-shoe-wearing dutch girl without a proper backyard to grow tullips in…

lol… “non-weed smoker” cmon! what do u think THIMUN is for??! ;)

Callthecops,
Did you go to THIMUN this year???

I did… did you? I was representing Nicaragua this year at ECOSOC :)

Yep, I was a reporter for MUNITY :). It was amazing fun. Will you be going back next year?

Ahhh nice! I’m still keeping my copies of MUNITY
Can I know your name so I can read some of your articles again? haha

realistknight,
I’ll PM it to you. :)
