Not freshman housing, but the actual college itself?

Yes, but not too many. They almost always go to seniors.

Within suites of 2-8, however, there are plenty of attached singles.

Oh ok, yeah I meant within suites are there single rooms. And thanks!! Are there a lot of those? Is it likely to get one in the lottery?

Also, what about Trumbull College?

I have done YSS and lived in both Saybrook and Branford. Both of them have many singles (there are usually 3-4 singles and one double in a suite). They really aren’t much larger than your average closet, though. I have no idea about Trumbull but I’d assume that it’s probably similar.

Alright thanks!! One last question: Does Branford have music practice rooms?

I’ve never had occasion to use them, but I’m pretty sure we do have music practice rooms.

Also re singles’ size, it totally depends on the room you get. Most singles are small but there are plenty of rooms that have average sized, even big, single rooms.

Hmm really? The website doesn’t mention anything about music practice rooms, but I’m really hoping that there is one…

Freshmen don’t get singles. I would estimate about 1/3 of sophomores get singles, which are usually tiny. About 2/3 of juniors get singles, and size depends on the year – the stand-alone singles in Branford are pretty huge, and there are usually 10 or so of those for juniors. Junior singles within suites are respectable but not massive. All seniors in Branford get single bedrooms, which are generally quite big.

What Ynd said isn’t entirely accurate. Suites in Branford range from stand-alone singles to octets, and every “number” in between.

Also, there are music practice rooms in the basement. I’ve been inside them, I promise you they exist.

What do they mean when they say Branford and Saybrook share a basement?

All the residential colleges have extensive below ground tunnels, rooms, storage spaces, workshops, squash courts, etc. Branford and Sybrk are adjacent to one another and it seems they must connect somehow.

Haha mochamaven, you’re the first person I’ve seen confirm that Branford actually does have music practice rooms. Thanks, 'cause I was wondering too!
