Does CalArts offer interdisciplinary classes?

Hello everyone! I am a student at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago looking to transfer to CalArts and was wondering if you can take say a sculpture class if you are a painting major. SAIC doesn’t really have majors, and students can choose from a variety of classes because of this. I’m assuming CalArts requires students to choose majors. I am applying to their School of Art. I read on their website that they offer painting, sculpture, etc. but was wondering if one could choose painting as a major but take a sculpture class at the same time.

Thanks everyone!

Looking at the catalog, I don’t see anything in the way of a painting major or a sculpture major. Seems like you can take a variety of classes if you’re enrolled in the BFA program.

You can also ask in the following forum -

And of course, you can email the school itself.
