ok back to the main q loll
im really torn between cornell human ecology and columbia seas for ED
i am not aiming at top medical schoos, but rather suny upstate/downstate for med school (financially i cant afford other med schools)

which major do ppl in SEAS typiccaly pursue for med school

human ecology and seas! are you batsht fcking insane?

you are deciding between two options which have nothing to do with the other and you want to bind yourself to one!

1)figure out whether you want to be premed, come up with a solid reason, because if you follow through it’s a big commitment, and changes the way you approach college. (every year people from every top schools try and fail to get into any med school, it is more difficult than it looks)

2) figure out what you want study. Yes, that means understanding what it means to study engineering or human ecology. you can’t just go with some romanticized concepts that you’ve created in your head. Human ecology and engineering have nothing to do with each other

3) Think about location and fit, again here, cornell and columbia are poles apart, you cannot not have at least a slight preference for one, and even a slight preference is magnified because the differences are large, every year some kids at cornell are absolutely miserable wishing they were in an environment like Columbia’s and every year some kids at Columbia are miserable wishing they were in an environment like Cornell’s.

Dude, please figure out colleges before you throw the next 4 years away.

it shouldn’t! and if it does then you’ve missed the point of college. if you are planning on going in and living and breathing premed and having every decision hinge on whether it is a good premed move then you’re better off just going to some 7 or 8 year combined BA/MD or BS/MD program
