Does cornell hotel school verify all of your EC and work experience? Any one know if cornell actually called your boss?

For the record, i am not planning on making up ECs, i’m asking because i left on bad terms with my boss, but i think the work i did there is quite valuable so i want to include it, but if they call my boss, things will not go well.

Doubt it. This would be quite an undertaking for colleges to verify every applicant’s ECs. They’re more likely to check on something when it appears to be inconsistent with the rest of the application, or when it raises a red flag.

should i risk putting it down?

That would have to be entirely up to you. If you do put it down, I would recommend not embellishing your experience at all so you don’t raise any red flags to the admissions office.

Yeah i was really surprised when I realized that listing EC’s are all about the honor system(you know, being truthful and honest). EC’s are such a big deal for college app’s yet are never/cant be verified(it would take so much time and effort to check).

I specifically asked for hotel school because hotel only receives about 800 applications each year (not that much), and a large part of admissions is dependent on your work experience. Does anyone have experience of cornell hotel actually calling some of their bosses?
