Does Cornell no longer require a TOEFL above 100?

There is no specific standard at the official website, but rather a combination of recommendation from English teacher and your writing samples. I scored a 98. Will that be okay? Thank you veeeeeeery much!

TOEFL standard at selective colleges is extremely high. Here is an excerpt from the Stanford’s former admission officer. “Scores on the TOEFL are generally exceptionally high.” In terms of whether TOEFL will make up for modest, or even bad, SAT Reasoning scores, the answer is positive. I believe that admission officers will put your situations into consideration.

However, a TOEFL score of 98 is not sufficient to get into highly selective colleges in the U.S. An exceptional TOEFL score will cover a modest SAT score, but it will not cover a terrible SAT score.

If you really want a “good” TOEFL score, I would say 110+, with emphasis on Reading and Writing.

If you are retaking TOEFL and wish to have some tips, feel free to message me.

If you have taken rigorous english courses, TOEFL is not required; in other words, if you have taken AP Lang or AP Lit, you don’t need to take the TOEFL.
Also, if you have good SAT scores, TOEFL isn’t needed as well.

That said, I agree with FBlalal… Good TOEFL scores are 110+…
