I know the school is on the beach, but i wondered how often to people hang out there?
Is it prerequisite to have a beach body?

Eh, it’s more common during Spring quarter but otherwise I’ve still found that most people are in IV during the daytime. And no, you don’t have a beach body… I know people bring up the freshman 15 a lot, but because bikes are the primary mode of transportation for students (pretty much everyone has a bike), it’s easy to burn those calories just going to class. Not to mention that everything is walkable in IV and you only really need to drive/take the bus when heading to Camino Real Marketplace or downtown SB for shopping. I was in the best shape of my life at UCSB for this reason (and taking Tae Kwon Do through [Leisure Review](http://www.recreation.ucsb.edu/leisurereview/default.aspx)) and I’ve gained weight since I graduated last year.

I always thought the weather was better in the Fall quarter than in the spring in terms of sunshine. But as far as how often, I’d say there’s only a few hundred people on Goleta beach any given day, and the undergrad population is around 18K. So sure its there and nice to go to, but most people aren’t spending every day on the sand.
