One can admire the resilience/perseverance of Harry and Meghan. They seem to be able to ignore the hate, learn, lean into their passions and work hard. Good for them.
The general consensus is that their revised deal with Netflix is a downgrade. Their revised deal gives the streaming service the right of first refusal on any project that M&H propose. It doesn’t guarantee any big payout or that Netflix will necessarily produce any of their projects.
I have recently gone down a rabbit hole of social media posters who don’t think highly of these two for various reasons. I think the truth is somewhere in the middle, but they have an interesting take on … everything lol.
Does anyone know where I could re-watch the original Oprah interview? From those same posters I understand Oprah herself took it down (I/they could be wrong) but I figured I would ask if anyone’s been able to find it. I’ve found snippets, but not the whole thing.
Looks like Harry and his father had a meeting (well tea, if what I read is correct). I actually hope he is able to reconnect with his family.
I’m glad it’s happening. I highly doubt he’ll reconnect with William anytime soon, unless he apologizes. I doubt that will ever happen. A father’s love for his son is different than brotherly affection or love. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.
This good for the two as long as Harry’s camp keeps their mouth shut on what happened at the meeting. The problem with H & M is that they will tell anything to a “friend” or a reporter. The Royal family as a whole doesn’t trust them.
I wouldn’t want someone telling all my personal business either.
Relationship mending usually entails apologies for all those involved.
Hopefully the only news we hear from both parties is that their meeting was lovely – and hopefully they mean it.
Perhaps generally.
I believe Harry is living and enjoying his life. Regardless of the way the British media portrays him and Meghan, they are trying to make a positive difference in the world…”show up, do good” indeed.
About time.
For someone who has been so steadfast and visible in his support for amputees, Harry has been pretty shockingly silent on the place with the most child amputees in the world. I’m sure this donation announcement went through the ultimate PR vetting gauntlet, but at least he’s finally done it.
Ouch. I think that is an unkind sentiment.
It is easy to criticize and one is welcome to do so, but I choose to appreciate people who make an effort to have a positive impact in other people’s lives.
Harry and Meghan left the UK and stopped being working royals in March of 2020. It’s been five years and imo they’ve accomplished a lot in that time. Lazy, they are not.
Not lazy, I never said they were. I did imply, however, that H&M were conspicuously silent on a conflict that has produced the largest number of child amputees in the world. Given Harry’s longstanding commitment to amputees and accessibility to prostheses, I am relieved to see his attention (public attention) is now on Gaza as well as Ukraine. His advocacy is much needed. He may well have been privately supporting these causes but his now-public advocacy makes a difference.
I didn’t say you called them lazy. I in turn was implying that their “silence” (as you called it) was perhaps due to how busy they’ve been (in other words, not lazy).
I would not use the word “relieved”, but I agree that attention towards Gaza and Ukraine is important and needed.
I give grace to Harry and Meghan, because as “non-working royals” they have a bit more to consider when it comes to their humanitarian causes.
An interview with Harry:
“The Guardian accompanies him on the journey to the capital – something of a gamble for both sides, as Harry noted. He is suspicious of the media, and the Guardian has long been critical of the monarchy.
And over the next 36 hours, we learn a lot – big and small – about this complex, conflicted man.”
If he truly wants reconciliation with his family, I don’t think this is the way. All this does is perpetuate the RF suspicion that ultimately everything will end up in the press. At the end of the day, that’s the only real way that they have to keep the cash register ringing for themselves.
I am curious to hear what you think is the right way.
I disagree and think this is an unkind sentiment, but that’s ok.
I feel listening to negative spin on every action taken/not taken by Harry and Meghan has been an interesting lesson on how media can create perceptions that may not be based on reality. If we were to take the “news” at face value, Harry and Meghan are going broke and on the cusp of divorce going on 5 yrs now. The sources which claim Harry and Meghan are in a dire position, are actually sounding more and more frustrated and desperate. The British media narrative is failing with the passage of time.
