If that is what Charles needs to rebuild a relationship with his son, I think even less of him.
I don’t think Harry is due an apology. And it’s possible they will agree to let bygones be bygones.
But I’m not sure I would feel particularly charitable if my kid had deliberately insulted my spouse in public. I might even want an apology for that…
King Charles thought his son, Prince Harry, “crossed a line” with the comments he made about Queen Camilla in his shocking memoir Spare. According to a royal insider, King Charles saw it as the “ultimate act of disrespect” and was furious.
Well, she was most certainly the other woman and I think that would be difficult knowledge for any child. And when I read the “wicked stepmother “ passages I wasn’t horrified. If this were my son and I read the book I would have some anger - but I’d have more guilt and sadness.
Harry receives a lot of criticism in this thread, but to me, he comes across as one of the most sincere members of the Royal Family especially when it comes to charitable work. His commitment seems heartfelt rather than performative. He’s consistently championed causes that matter to him (mental health, veterans, WellChild, Invictus Games, Africa). It seems he genuinely has a good heart and that he tries to honor his mother’s legacy in meaningful ways.

I agree. But that’s the purpose of the Royal Family. You can devote yourself to charitable and similar endeavors (opening buildings, giving awards, etc.) without having to earn a living or worry about money.
His current situation doesn’t allow him to do that. Instead he has to focus primarily on generating money from commercial ventures to support his family (which he clearly isn’t particularly good at, beyond just attracting publicity for revelations about the Royals). It’s not sustainable.

Well hopefully they invested the 100 million and other funds well and will not need anymore television deals to fund their lifestyle. I wonder if the speculation that Prince Harry is trying to reconnect and make amends with his father is also spurred on by the lack of interest in H and M’s foray into entertainment? Maybe he is thinking about his role in the family a little more?
They lead an expensive lifestyle. I don’t know if any of their estimated annual expenses that one might find online are accurate, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s >$10M year (and some estimates are double that.) That post-tax $100M isn’t going to last long if their expenses really are that high.

The $100 M didn’t go straight into their pockets. Whatever they received personally still has to fund their lavish lifestyle, including a hefty security bill
Of course, they could always live within their means — novel idea, right?

Yes the $100M figure was the budget for production, not their salary. I doubt they personally received more than 10-20% of that headline figure. In the first year or two they only received a couple of million dollars. It’s not like an advance for a book, which is a more conventional way for a media company to pay off a celebrity.

Somehow I do not seeing them downsizing to a bungalow on the beach. The California estate offers the security and gravitas necessary to keep up the royal perception and importance they need to be relevant.

At the rate they probably spend money, before you know it, they’ll be livin’ in a van down by the river.
I’m sure that Matt Foley, motivational speaker, would be happy to pay them a visit if they needed any motivation to figure themselves out.
