Does everyone have their popcorn ready for Harry & Meghan?

I think his only hope of reconciliation is with Charles. It certainly isn’t with Camilla and unlikely with William.

I still think Harry would have to give 3/4 to Charles’ 1/4.

The most ridiculous thing in all of this, is that he CAN visit the UK with his family and have security, if he gives them advance notice and if they are invited to Royal events. This is all about his IPP status. What a petulant, privileged, spoilt man child he is. He wants everyone to recognise that he is still a Prince. His children are not unsafe in the UK. They WILL be given security ahead of time. He is a spoilt brat. There are so many awful things going on in the world. He needs to get over himself.

Harry, nobody knows how much time they have left, even you. Fewer and fewer people care about you and your drama. Just go away!

My observation and opinion of this whole mess is that Harry, being raised most of his life without a mother figure (or a present father figure), found one in Meghan. She wants to be in charge, and he is happy being told what to do and where to be. He comes across as being very immature - almost stuck in the little boy mindset from the day Diana died. I think he is very easily manipulated.

Meghan quickly learned that she would not be the darling of the Royal Family. She met with resistance and bad press when she tried to alter traditions and do things her way. She thought her chances of being an A-lister were better in the U.S. rather than always being in the background of the Royal Family. Harry, who was already unhappy in the U.K., happily obliged the decampment from royal life without thinking through the lifestyle changes that would come from that.

Instead of leaving quietly, they both trashed and humiliated the RF with their interviews, books and vague accusations, effectively burning any bridges to reconciliation. For Harry to think that Charles or William owes them an apology is absurd. Harry dug his own grave.

H&M, and I will die on this hill, want to famous (or at least Meghan does) - they want to be in the regular news cycle. They want to show the RF that they can be loved here in the U.S. They have no real desire to live a private life (which they could easily do - as many celebrities currently do). They want to be invited to the best events, they want to be treated like royalty and be the most famous guests seated at the table. This has backfired for the most part, but it doesn’t keep Meghan from continuing to try.

Her continuing to grift off the RF by using titles that may or may not be granted to them is very cringy. There’s talk of William stripping their titles completely when king, which would end any speculation of their entitlements.

It’s sad that Harry blew up his family life in this way. Not saying that the RF didn’t play a part in it but continuing to drag them through the mud with these interviews, I don’t blame the RF for being done with these drama queens.

King Charles will be in Ottawa to give the Speech from the Throne on May 27th, opening the Canadian Parliament. It will be interesting if Harry would meet him there, on “neutral ground.”

I think Prince Charles is the cold fish he’s always appeared to be.

With the visit having a 2 day duration, I doubt it.

UK press analysis of Harry’s latest “outburst” (gift link):

Prince Harry’s BBC interview will not make wounds easier to heal

I wonder if H&M’s PR people pre-approved what Harry was going to say in that interview?

Looks to me like this new PR person had no control whatsoever over the interview (30 mins vs 10 expected and “nothing was off-limits”). Comparing it to Prince Andrew’s famous debacle is damning.

Her resume doesn’t sound like someone who has an intimate knowledge of the politics of the Royal Family and British press and how to control such an interview. My experience has been that VC firms tend to think “any publicity is good publicity” because they are otherwise largely ignored by the press. And Hulu had a famously bad public profile that was dominated by disputes between its shareholders:

Maines joins Team Sussex from Lightspeed Venture Partners, where she served as the firm’s first marketing partner, overseeing communications, brand strategy and advised Lightspeed’s portfolio companies.

  • Before Lightspeed, Maines ran communications at Hulu and worked as a talent manager for American Idol. She started her career at Google, helping to launch its search products.

I’d guess H&M will be looking for a successor very soon.

Agreed. Even H&M (without the input of a PR person) should know not to agree to a ‘nothing off-limits’ interview. For that matter, it doesn’t seem Harry has any understanding of the type of filter he needs if it is a goal of H&M to have a strong ‘brand’.

I still have a hard time understanding H’s main bone of contention here re. the loss of security detail.

Was he under the impression that, owing to his popularity among the people, he would forever receive equal billing (and equal protection) to William? And that once M was introduced to the public, their popularity (and public adoration) would double?

But William and Harry weren’t co-princes of Wales. Shouldn’t Harry and his future spouse have been looking at Princess Anne as their roadmap?

I think M was looking for a Clooney/Amal type of high profile love affair crossed with an Angelina Jolie level of credibility as an activist actress. And now she’s going for a more basic Gwyneth Paltrow/Jennifer Garner model of aspirational-but-relatable working mom entrepreneur.

It’s all a bit exhausting. I can’t be the only one thinking that a little more mystery and inaccessibility would do wonders for H&M’s profile.

This speaks to Harry’s immaturity. Growing up in the RF, he had people that understood the nuances of the RF and were adept at handling the press. He never had to think about it. Now he’s on his own in that regard, with an American wife who seems to still think that they can ride the sympathy train by continuing to drag Charles & William. The British are never going to forgive them for the betrayal, and the Americans are never going to care enough about them to jump to their defense.

But she may not realize that Gwyneth Paltrow is relentlessly mocked, especially by the British press, for precisely that persona of “earnest American whom you should want to emulate”.

This was amusingly captioned on social media the other week as “now the world really is ending!”

And now M is being relentlessly mocked for thinking her flower sprinkles are the most enchanting thing ever to be invented.

And Katy Perry is being relentlessly mocked for calling herself an astronaut.

Interesting that Meghan, Gwyneth, and Katy have something in common: Montecito.

I wonder who leaked this?

Given the meeting took place in a public venue, I’m not sure you can call the meeting “secret” or the details “leaked.”

But the author, Charlotte Griffiths, has written several articles that appear, IMO, to have info gleaned from Team Sussex

That probably isn’t helpful…I sometimes wonder if H&M really want a rapprochement, or are just looking to get favorable PR that they are trying and any problems are all the fault of the Royal Family.

Ooh, an email invitation will be issued? I’m sure that would make Charles and William feel very special.
