Does FASFA Cover On-Campus Living & Other Questions

Does FASFA cover living on campus if the only income I have is >$10,000 a month and my parents do not work/collect SSI and disability (~$800/mo)? My brother makes the same and attends school with me.

I’m looking for a cheaper solution to attend Temple Univ. Right now, I commute using my mother’s car and gas takes up about $10 a day. Eating on campus is also $10 for the both of us for lunch. Will FASFA also cover meals if I dorm?

It’s just really frustrating not being able to save any money as I want to buy a used car soon. Anyone have any other options?

Are you making more than $120,000 a year?

FAFSA doesn’t cover/give you anything. FAFSA is a needs test for federal aid. Your EFC is based on the school’s Cost of Attendance which would include costs for room and board. As far as where funding would come from for that, talk to your college financial aid office.

Greater than $10,000 per month is a LOT of money.
FAFSA isn’t money as Erin’s Dad has noted. It’s a program that sends your financial information to the colleges. It also sees if you qualify for federal aid.
The colleges come up with your financial aid packages so you HAVE to visit your financial aid office. But if you listed $10,000 a month for income ($120,000 per year), you won’t be getting anything but loans.

I think she means that her income is less than $10k per year. I think she used the wrong sign and accidentally put month instead of year.

Anyway…

FAFSA is just an app for federal aid, which isn’t much. So, even if your EFC were to be 0, you would not get enough grants from fed aid to cover your costs.
