My dad went to university of Iowa and I am strongly considering going there and it is one of my top choices. Does being the child of an alum significanly increase my chances? I have a pretty high GPA and an ACT score of 29. Should I just apply now or should I wait and apply after I take the ACT again in october so RAI score will be higher? Also how does being being the child of an alum increase my chances of getting a scholarship? I know I will all ready recieve the alumni one

I don’t think alumni help with acceptances anymore. However, if your GPA is above a 3.0 and you’ve taken all of the required courses listed on the UI website you will more than likely get in, and, might qualify for a scholarship.

Apply today! The application is quick and easy, no essays. The sooner you apply to a rolling admissions school the better your chances of getting in. And, as soon as you receive your acceptance you should apply for housing. It fills up VERY fast.

Good luck and go Hawkeyes!

My GPA is really high weighted, but iwas reading the website and they seemed to only use unweighted GPA? is that true, beause my weighted is so much higher.

What is your unweighted GPA? If it’s above 3.0 you’re more than likely in with a 29 GPA, as long as you’ve taken all of the core courses required, such as science, math, foreign language…

Does your HS rank? If they do then go to the website and look for the RAI calculator in the freshman admissions section and plug in your numbers.

Best of luck!

My unweighted is 3.5 and my rank is 10. I got my RAI score to be 370. Is that good?

You’re in! If you’re in state you need an RAI of 245, OOS 255. If they use your weighted GPA I think you’ll get a scholarship too.

Apply tonight and get your transcripts sent tomorrow so you can get your acceptance and apply for housing.

Go Hawkeyes!
