Does Hotchkiss use the Harkness format?

Hi, I’m working on my final touches for my Hotchkiss essay, and I’m wondering, does Hotchkiss use the Harkness teaching method?
Thanks

I can’t answer that question but, if you can’t either, you probably shouldn’t make any reference to it in your essay, especially if you plan on making any comments based on what you read on an Internet forum.

(The Hotchkiss website would be a good place to research this question although people on this forum who are familiar with or who attend Hotchkiss can give you reliable info, too. My point is that you should not reference anything in an essay that you cannot talk about with confidence.)

I looked at their website, and researched some more, but I couldn’t find anything, so I guess I’ll just leave it out.

I went to Hotchkiss about a week ago. They use the Harkness teaching method in school. I saw them sitting and discussing on the roundtable. I have been to Andover, Exeter, Lawrenceville, CRH, and Hotchkiss for interviews. They all use this teaching method in school somehow fully or not.

Please note the semantics in the above sentence. Harkness method, Harkness table, etc. are registered trademarks. So if you plan to write in an essay that you love the school’s use of Harkness, be sure that the school uses Harkness. Andover does not; it uses a contemporary Socratic method in many, but not all, classes.
