I have completed 2 summers with an internship in the computer science field. How much weight would this have on admission to Northeastern with a computer science major?

It should definitely help! Like a lot! It will give you a leg up on applying into your major, where they will see that you are passionate about your chosen field. Way better than going in undeclared.

As well, it will give you material to write about in your college essays. It will make you a more “interesting” candidate!

There is no stigma in applying undeclared. They have a wonderful program for undeclared students and my undeclared daughter got into the honors program and got the max deans scholarship. My understanding is that most computer science majors go in knowing a lot of stuff already, many having worked in the industry already.

I was not saying that there is stigma attached to undeclared. I was saying NEU has come out and said that if you show that you excel in your field that you applied to you are more likely to get accepted into that field. I actually know people who applied something like chemical engineering to make themselves more interesting, got accepted, then switched majors as soon as they got there.
