Does it ever rain in the OC?

someone told me it never rains down in the OC

Lies lies lies.

It rains just as much in the OC as anywhere else in SoCal.

I think it might be physically impossible for it not to rain in the OC because of its proximity to the water.

“It rains just as much in the OC as anywhere else in SoCal.”

i.e., it never rains in the OC =P

Rain is pretty infrequent, though. I imagine it’s the same here as anywhere else along the coast in southern california. Heh, I remember when I was a kid, everyone would stop and look out the window on the rare occasion that it actually rained.

I’m from Norcal, and I’m seriously going to miss the rainy, cold winters! Sadface…at least every other season is better…

it probably rains only 1-3 times a month, and thats during the winter season…otherwise, it never rains in the other seasons.

i love socal weather.

Winter? What winter? We don’t really have anything I would call winter, to be perfectly honest. It might get a little chilly on occasion. There might even be a super light layer for frost on the grass in the morning that melts in an instant. I don’t think I’d really call it winter, though. It does get a little cold, though, relatively speaking, and it sure FEELS cold, since you’re so used to it being mild-warm all year round. Actually quite nice, unless you like winter =P

2 years ago, there was more rainfall in a month than there had been in the previous year. There can be rain in the OC. and when it did rain, it rained a lot, and everything flooded. it sucked.

That was a record amount of rainfall. In San Diego, I think it was the second highest amount of rainfall in a season since they’ve been keeping records. That was by far the exception.

There can be some flooding, though. I’ve never really noticed any worth mentioning (except one year when a low bridge was washed out, but that was also an unusually rainy year, and there had been a lot of rain in the mountains, which caused the river to actually become a river, since it’s usualy more of a creek, if that). What can get really bad are the freeways. They don’t drain very well, and some lanes just become plain undriveable when there’s heavy rain. It’s not a very common thing, though.

btw, if anyone’s wondering, I think the record for rainfall in San Diego is like 38in in a year. Average for some other places, like say NYC, is 35 a year. Average in SD is like, I dunno, 9in? Relatively speaking, it’s pretty much rain free, but it DOES rain. Just not often.
