Does it hurt...

I am a junior and I am a little worried about a few things such as

Does it hurt that NO one in my school has ever gone to an Ivy League (not a feeder-school)

Oh wait, that’s because my school is 10 years old, with a little over 90 people

Does it hurt that if you come from a small town, pop 5000, texas

My school only offers 4 APs, but I am taking them all, is that still considered a taking the most rigorous courseload. I also take bioscience research classes at the local college

Last but not least…ECs. For some reason my school doesn’t offer underwater badmitton (hehe) but very generic ecs, like basketball, track, NHS, Interact, etc! Is a “generic” EC good for an ivy, or more specifically Yale? Don’t get me wrong, I would still play bball if it was offered at bigger school, but the problem is options.

So, my big question is, do these factors work against me? and if the do, well, how do i fix it?

I applied from a very similiar set of circumstances this year and got in. Colleges will look at you in context of your situation, but make sure that you let them know your situation- do this subtley and without whining, but make sure they know that you did everything you possibly could with the resources you had. Best of luck! If I could do it all over again I wouldn’t worry so much as I did last year in your shoes… there are a ton of great schools out there.
