Does it look bad to leave a HADES school?

For complicated reasons, I needed to attend boarding school for 10th grade, so I’m currently at a HADES school. For 11th and 12th grade though, these “complicated reasons” are gone, so I don’t need to be at boarding school. My parents are sort of making me leave, convinced that I can still get into an ivy if I do. so, what will colleges think when they see one year of my transcript at one school, one year at a hades school, and two years at another school (that doesn’t compare to any hades.)

Will this hurt my chances of going to an ivy?

We’re not guaranteed continuity in our lives. People move and things change. Graduating from a HADES doesn’t necessarily improve your chances for Ivy. But you do.

And if you’re on that path, you’re going to get there no matter where you’ve been. All the best and good luck. It sounds like you want to stay and I hope everything works out for you.

^^^ I missed the thread you started about applying to PA. Why do you want to switch schools? I thought you were leaving BS period.

The plan is to leave HADES (that’s the one my parents want… and the one most likely to happen.) I, however, want to continue at BS, but at Andover. So if my parents would let me stay at BS, I’d transfer from my current school to Andover…

Do you realize the “A” in that stupid acronym stands for “Andover?”. If you’re trying to transfer from Hotchkiss, Deerfield, Exeter, or St. Paul’s to Andover, your thread title makes no sense–you aren’t leaving the acro. I think you mean “Does it look bad to transfer to a different BS?”

Yes, it is unusual to attend three high schools and someone reviewing your application will want to understand why this happened.

To Choatiemom:

Yes, I am trying to Hotchkiss from a HDES to Andover. I just didn’t want to give away my current school…

^^^I wasn’t asking you to give it away. I was pointing out that your thread title, “Does it look bad to leave a <stupidacro> school” is not your real question when you are just trying to flip one letter for another. You seem to want to know if it will look bad to transfer from one BS to another. If you actually pull that off, your transcript will not only show three different high schools but a transfer between two schools of the same caliber. And, yes, siliconvalleymom is correct: you will have some ‘splainin’ to do.</stupidacro>

Choatiemom

I must not have explained my self well, 'pologies. What is almost certainly going to happen is me returning to live with my parents after leaving that certain HADES school. What I want to do (although it is very, very, unlikely) is apply to Andover instead.

If anything, I think there’s a possibility a good college admission’s essay can come out of the experience. However, I think it’s really important to ask yourself whether or not you will be unhappy going to school back home. At the end of the day it’s you that is going to the school and not your parents.
Good luck!
