Does it make sense to do a NASA or Google internship when I want a spike in my application for med?

If I want to have a spike in my application that focuses towards the “Medicine” area then are Google and NASA internships pointless? What are some prestigious internship programs for medicine?

Are you applying to universities in the US? If so finding things to prooove to ad AdCom that you are really, truly a seerrious commuted potential med student and that is why they should really pick you is unlikely to be as effective as you might wish. Unis are over-blessed with applicants whose current goal is med school. Pro tip: they don’t look at an app & say “ooh this one has a really good med school spike”. They may say “ooh this one has used their opportunities well and is somebody who would be interesting on campus.”

You will almost certainly do better by following your true interests. Is the NASA internship genuinely interesting to you? Great! Go for it. Are you interested b/c you think a Harvard AO is going to say “wow!”? Spoiler- they won’t. To paraphrase a Princeton admissions dean “we are not impressed by what you have done, but by what you have done with that experience”.
