Does it matter which high school you come from?

<p>If you go to an less competitive high school, your GPA will be higher than a competitive private school or other high school.
Does it matter if you go to an easier school and get a high score? In both situation, you still will be using tutoring for SAT test… In CA, it looks like UC guarantee a spot if you are in top 9% in school ranking. Why would people want to go to highly competivtive high school?</p>

<p>Because they are nice, safe facilities that present loads of opportunities. The Environment at many less competitive schools makes truly excelling a real challenge. Kids who stand out there are no less intelligent than top students elsewhere.</p>

<p>You can’t usually choose the school you go to. You are stuck where your parents live. This way you aren’t penalized for something you can’t control. Like living in the ghetto…</p>
