does it matter which schools are not in your first 10

Hello,

My child is applying to 11 places. I’m doing the fafsa now, and I see that I put in the 10, then later, after we get the Student Aid report, you do it again for the 11th.

Does the 11th school see the report in a different way than the first 10? Does it signal anything, and does it matter.

I’m also confused about a school like Vassar, which says, don’t send financial aid info until you complete application to the school. So I shouldn’t add Vassar until after my kid finishes her app? OR do they mean the CSS Profile.

The whole thing about putting a school in your state in the first position is only for public schools, right?

Thank you very much!

It doesn’t matter. Schools can no longer see where or if you submitted the FAFSA or Profile to other schools.

And it is okay to add Vassar. The schools ‘pull’ the FAFSA info when they are ready for it. If your child never applies, no harm, no foul.

Some states require you to list an instate school in a certain order on FAFSA to be considered for state aid.

I our state grants apply to schools from community college to private instate schools, in different amounts.

Thank you all!
