Does it really help if you're...?

First generation and an under-represented minority? And I’m talking about schools like Harvard and Yale and the rest of the Ivies.

What does “really help” mean? If you don’t have competitive grades and test scores, you still won’t get in. But if you are an otherwise competitive candidate, it will get you a second look to see what you would add to the school because you presumably come from a background that is not typical of the broader student body.

Bump.
