Does Lehigh really look beyond the numbers?

Hi guys here’s the thing:
I am a student from Vietnam, studying in a high school for the gifted in the South. My high school is very notable; however, the GPA system of my high school is more brutal than other notable school’s. My overall GPA is, therefore, average. I study a total of 13 compulsory subjects, some are my forte some are not. I want to major in Global Studies at Lehigh, and since I have very high score (the best in class) in social science subjects, I highlight my application as so. I have very decent SAT score also. (no SAT 2 though, but does SAT 2 matter too much?)
So what bothers me is: does Lehigh stress too much on the overall GPA? does it hurt my chance too much since I am a financial aid applicant? do they take into consideration showing of interest? (i’m an intl student so i cannot visit, but i’ve shown my interest by emailing the ad com, talking to current students, doing interview, trying to write strong essays, etc)
These days I’m all stressed out by concerns.
Thanks for your time guys. Hope you guys reply!

From what I experienced this year it seems they aren’t stuck on numbers or rank but more the quality, meaning like for my lowest grade was a B- in AP Chem but my rec letter from my chem teacher he told me talked about how i know the stuff i just don’t test well because of my anxiety disorder… so in my experience they look past the numbers and that’s why I chose to apply to Lehigh initially…if your curious my other stats are in the 2019 profile forum

Thanks poetrymusiclover. That’s a relief. I don’t have a good SAT score but I got a fairly high GPA and also an IB predicted score of 40. My essays are pretty good I think. What do you think of my chances for applying Lehigh as my Early Decision 2 school?

@paradiseeee‌ your IB predicted score is definitely higher than mine, and I did ACT (doing ok, but not too amazing either). I have a feeling that you are going to be fine! All the best with everything though!

@paradiseeee you sound like you are gonna be fine good luck with everything!!!

Thx @dia1311 and @poetrymusiclover!!!

Just my view on this… I was not a great applicant on paper grade wise. I got B’s in high school, some A’s, some C’s. My SAT’s were above their median range, but not by a lot. If they only looked at my GPA and my SAT’s, I would have never gotten in, but… I got in. SO they looked at my supplements, and looked at my resume and they took into account that I did show a ton of interest and was really proactive. I also participated in programs that they had for prospies like the DAP (diversity achievers program), open houses, engineering tours etc. So yes, I do think they are more holistic than people realize. Good luck!

is it required to send our predicted IB score to Lehigh? I am also in ib diploma
