I am applying to Lehigh with the hopes of majoring in Design Arts, and while most of my other schools require or accept portfolios, I can’t find anywhere on the Lehigh website that asks for one. Could anyone assuage my worries - they don’t require a portfolio, do they? Will they even accept one?

My daughter applied last year for their Design Arts program and they did not require a portfolio. She was not accepted into Lehigh though…

Good luck getting in, and if you want some other schools with excellent programs in design that do not require portfolios (that might be safer) there is American University, Syracuse University in the Newhouse school of Communications (their fine arts program does require a portfolio), Marist although that is a huge safety…

Thanks very much!
I actually am applying to Syracuse, so hopefully that’ll work out too.
Thanks for your help, and I hope your daughter is happy where she is!
:)

Good luck getting into either college. My daughter did get into Newhouse at Syracuse and is enjoying it! She chose that over the Fine Arts dept because she did not want to submit a portfolio as she mostly wants to do layout and design. She had experience with that as she did it for the school newsletters, but she does not have a lot of drawing experience!
