My counselor recommended Korean Heritage Language course (LIHL 115) because I wanted to learn more Korean. My 4 year plan says I should take language in fall.

Does this class fulfill the Revelle language requirement? Also, its listed as a “Tutorial class” which I have NO idea what it is.

doubt it. the language requirement says you need to complete the 4th-quarter equivalent. LIHL 115 appears to be a conversation class for native speakers. unless you already tested out of the LTKO 1A-D classes, you’ll need to finish those for your GEs.

LTKO 1A isn’t going to help you clear the requirement any faster and is a waste of your time if you already know Korean. Are you proficient enough to take LIHL 115? Then just wait a few quarters until you get junior standing. Or email the department to see whether they can waive the upper-division standing. If the class isn’t full and you’re ready to take it, then there’s no reason they should prevent you from doing so.

Well, I can read/write but most of the time I can’t understand what I’m reading. I only understand casual conversation so I only know a few grammar rules.

I’m pretty sure I can handle LIHL 115, it should be a class designed for people like me. It even says that knowing how to read and write isn’t required!

I think I will wait until I’m a junior then, my schedule looked pretty bloated anyway, and instead of LTKO 1A I’ll probably clear my American Culture requirement.
