I am looking at two private schools, William Penn Charter, and Solebury School. I have contacted some of the colleges I am interest in (I am only a sophmore) and they kind of beat around the bush. If I get the same grades, one in an elite private school, and one in a smaller private school, how does that affect my chances of getting into elite institutions such as JHU, Brown, or UPenn? Thanks, mburgos13

For the most part, wherever you go to private school helps boost your chance of getting into an “elite institution” as opposed to going to a public school. It really depends on what both schools are like. Sure, the elite private school probably gets more people into Ivy’s, but being a standout at a smaller private school could help you stick out more in the crowd, which could eventually even give you a better chance of getting accepted to such colleges.

Just looking at the matriculation list for both schools, it seems like William Penn Charter has a significantly better matriculation list, but that shouldn’t be a reason you choose a school.

Thanks. I realtiy, Penn Charters data isbetter than it looks. 61 People went to Upenn in the last 5 yrs.Thats CRAZY! I guess that resulted in a lack of enrollment in other elite institutions. For Solebury School, I would rank high in the grad. class, which is a plus.
