I am a URM from Illinois with above average stats (4.0/4.0 GPA, 33 ACT) and my family’s efc is $0. How much aid, if any, does Michigan usually give to those in my situation?

What situation? You stats are reasonable for acceptance although you don’t say which college (LSA, COE, etc.) You know that they don’t guarantee to meet need for out of state students. If you really like Michigan, apply and see what happens in the spring when the financial aid information is posted but make sure with an EFC of zero you have a college that you and your family can afford. You would qualify for Pell if in fact your EFC is zero. Michigan also requires the Profile for distribution of aid.

The scholarship web page(s) is in the link below. You could search and see if there are any scholarships that fit your particular major or minority situation. Best wishes.

Smartguy, it’s very hit and miss for out-of-state students. We’ve seen some reports that amount to pretty much the whole shebang, and others who were “gapped” dramatically. So the only way you can know is to apply and hope for the best, BUT be prepared.

Since you’re in IL with a very competitive profile, be sure to give Northwestern and U. Chicago a try…although private, if accepted, you’d be pretty much guaranteed full funding.

Michigan has made a commitment to move toward meeting 100% of need for OOS students, but they’re not there yet. That’s why it’s hit-or-miss; you really won’t know until you apply and see what happens.

Your stats are very impressive (assuming that 4.0 is unweighted). I think you probably have a good chance of getting accepted at Michigan and many other very good schools. What are you interested in studying?

Search the web for mid-west exchange program. You may get some additional help there.

Thanks for the responses everyone I appreciate it. Sorry I have been so late but we have had extra long football practices recently and I have just been exhausted.
I have considered Northwestern and I plan on applying.
I plan on majoring in biology while taking pre Med classes
And thanks I will definitely look into that program.

I’m OOS but not a URM. I got the Jean Fairfax merit scholarship work 10k from them. They def have URM scholarships.

I’m OOS as well and also not a URM, if anything, I’m a majority here. However, with that, I received a $18K scholarship from. With your stats, and financial need and being a URM, I would be very surprised if you DID NOT receive substantial aid. With my scholarships and grants, I’m actually paying less than a lot of my in-state friends. GO BLUE!
