Does Minor Count As A Degree When Applying To Jobs?

I’m interested in certain jobs that don’t include my major but my minor. For example I’m minoring in Computer Science but the positions I’m interested require a degree in Computer Science. There are several reasons why I’m not majoring computer science including that the program is not accredited and I basically can take majority of the related classes without majoring in it?

Would a Minor Count As A Degree When Applying To Related Positions?

A minor is not a degree. If a job requires a degree in a certain field, you’re probably never going to get a call back if you don’t have it. There are some exceptions, like having significant work experience related directly to the job. You might be able to get a job that requires a computer science degree if you have a degree in a related field like mathematics.

Nope, a minor is exactly what it is: a minor. A minor basically says “I took some courses in the field so I’ve gotten some formal education”. An actual degree will go even further since you took more courses and focused more on the study. If you wanted to get a job that required ur minor as a degree, the you should make ur minor into a degree or get some work experience in that field. Work experience + some course work = a good combination to have.
