I wondering whether is it useful to minor in psy for an accounting major?

Well its really not that useful for accounting, but it might be useful if your a finance or econ major and you want to know how people think and interact, if you want work in Ibanking or consulting.

Psychology is more closely linked to Economics (since they are both social sciences); however, psych does have some relevance to accounting.

The things regulators discuss tend to involve a mix of psych, econ, finance and accounting. Accounting policies can have a major effect on how people make economic decisions.

Auditors need to understand what kind of conditions (in terms of internal control and corporate culture) encourage fraud.

Corporate governance requires understanding the principles of motivation and linking behavior to accounting numbers.

HR consultants need to understand the effect of accounting numbers and accounting policies on employees–when profits are low (whether due to economic conventions or due to accounting policies), employees worry.

I have a degree in Business and a degree in Psychology and find a lot of these topics very interesting. While my psych degree won’t be directly relevant to my day-to-day activities, it will be when I am working in upper-level positions.
