<p>So I recently registered for my classes! I have decided to take the following for the first semester…</p>
<p>WRC 1013 - Composition 1
SOC 1013 - Intro to Sociology
MAT 1043 - Intro to Mathematics
GEO 1013 - The Third Planet
POL 1013 - Intro to American Politics</p>
<p>Anyways, my adviser said that my schedule looked pretty good, but I was later told by a different adviser that I am taking a lot of classes that involve writing/reading/research. All of them except for the MAT 1043 do, according to the adviser. She said I may want to reconsider if I don’t already have good study-habits and all, and also she said that many Freshman may not be able to handle it.</p>
<p>However, I have seen some of my friend’s schedules before, and many have a schedule exactly like mine… And they seem to be doing fine!</p>
<p>So, is this an okay Freshman schedule in your opinion, or is the level of reading/writing going to be too much? I just ask because one adviser seemed to think it would be just fine while the other was advising me that it wouldn’t be a bad idea to reconsider.</p>

<p>I can only tell you that I think people where I go were too eager to recommend easier schedules. Unless you’re really worried about it yourself, I’d stick with it. If you’re looking at that and thinking “My God, how am I going to do this all,” then drop one. If not, stick with it.</p>
<p>It depends on your major. I think your schedule is looking very fine right now, and they are all 100 level courses. You should be fine.</p>
<p>Don’t worry. These are all 100 level courses in subjects where you wouldn’t even likely need to do all the reading for to get an A, or cram abbreviated versions of reading in right before the midterms/final. The only thing to think a little bit about, if you’re really worried, is the composition one - look into it a bit more to see what the professor is like, as some school’s comp. professors/classes are insane. </p>
<p>But overall I think you’re advisor is just warning you on the side of caution - my advisor said that half of my schedule first semester (I skipped many prereqs and went right to several 300 level classes) was too hard for a first semester freshmen, but I still got pretty close to a 4.0 that semester without working to death and still being very active in student life and enjoying it a lot.</p>
<p>Most college classes require a lot of reading and writing. It’s all a part of the study stills you have to learn in college…that’s why we’re here. I don’t think anything’s wrong with it at all.</p>
<p>It looks like a good balance of courses that are likely to meet your school’s distribution requirements.</p>
<p>If you’re currently interested in non-science liberal arts as a focus in college, then this looks fine. Your schedule isn’t too difficult, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t change it if you’re not satisfied.</p>
<p>If you’re doubting the schedule because you’d also like the more quantitative fields, you might consider switching either composition or politics for something like microecon or a science</p>
<p>It looks fine. As they’re all 1000 levels, the writing you will have to do won’t be too bad.</p>
