<p>It doesn’t mean they don’t like you. The merit money usually goes to those students whose Statistics put them in the school’s top few percentage points statistics wise. For instance if the average ACT for students accepted to the school is a 27 then a student with an ACT of 32 is more likely to get a merit award then a student with a 27.</p>
<p>If they gave merit aid to everyone, then wouldn’t that kind of defeat the purpose of “merit?”</p>
