I am really curious about whether or not my acceptance for the Fall 2014(current) term into SUNY Stony means much if I want to reapply and transfer into it. I am currently at SUNY Binghamton, and I don’t know much about their transfer policy because everytime I E-Mail them, I don’t get a straight reply. It’s usually some copy and pasted stuff from their transfer page.

And do college grades weigh more than HS grades if I want to apply after my first semester? Not that my college grades are bad so far, it’s just that I haven’t put as much into them (due to every teacher talking about how it’s not about the grades, as long as you pass, it’s about learning), and I’m a little afraid that this drop in performance, however slight it is, may hurt my chances.

You are at Binghamton. You don’t put effort into your classes because your professors say that the professors talk about how you should learn the material not just game for grades? So you will transfer to Stony Brook. Is Stony Brook geared more to students who are not scholarly or academic? if so, that may be just the place for you if you don’t like academics or scholarship.

Friend, you completely misread my post.
I do put effort into my classes, but I’m not overachieving in the slightest. I still don’t “game for grades” though.

I want to transfer to Stony because it has a better program for my major, and my financial situation is much better, since Bing cost less than Stony at the time. The point of my post was to ask if my past acceptance to Stony would mean anything, not whether or not Stony would be a good place for me.
