I know that with me being a part time student, I can’t receive my full Pell Grant. Only a certain amount. So I still have over $1,000 in Pell Grant that I can’t use for my tuition. Will it completely cover my books and supplies though?
If it isn’t applied to your bill, the Pell grant can be refunded to you. Whether it pays for your books and supplies depends on what you need. Books for some science and math classes can be expensive.
Some schools issue the refunds right away but others take 2-3 weeks to get you the funds. Some schools allow you to charge your books at the book store and will pay that bill before making the refund. You have to figure it out. Also, you’ll only get 1/2 of the pell refund in the fall. Some books and required course codes are really expensive. My daughter is taking 9 credits this summer and her books are over $300 (math book was $60, code was $100).
