Does playing piano at nursing home count as volunteering?

Sorry, I didn’t know what section to ask this in.

Yes, it does. (Unless you were paid.)

^Agree with above. If you devoted a share of your time to an activity like playing piano for the elderly, then it counts as volunteering.

Perhaps you could put this in the “College Admissions” forum?

^ Or the catch-all that is HSL.

I wish that the nursing homes in my area had better pianos.

^Do some fund-raising. Don’t be lazy, dear.

The nursing homes in my area have excellent acoustics and uprights with unbearably stiff keys. Playing on them after I broke my pinky was not fun. :(

^ ksarmand: you play? for how long?

And to the OP, yes. I know someone who did exactly that and got volunteer hours from it. No worries. :)

^Telling you how long I’ve been playing would be misleading, since I play like someone with far less experience. :frowning: But if you must know, it’s been 13 years.

My iTunes is currently playing the piano version of Forever & Always by Taylor Swift. This is relevant to this thread.

^You are irrelevant to life.

Such a caustic remark, I’m almost hurt.

^Mission accomplished.

Aw, you’re no fun. Where are the irascible people?

Your mission was to almost hurt me? A very peculiar goal.

^I take a particular delight in halting just before the finish line.

[That’s probably why my track career foundered.]

But “almost” is quite ambiguous. Add in the possibility that my comment was sardonic and your euphoria could very well be misguided.

[The humor was corny but enjoyed nonetheless]

^I don’t believe in euphoria.

[I save my worst jokes for you, darling.]
