Does Princeton send out admission decision to your high school?

I can’t imagine why they would. If they send the letter directly to you, why does your school need an official document when you can just show it to them?

I mean maybe it’s different for international applicants or elite boarding schools or something (I highly doubt that though), but I know that my school didn’t receive any notification for my friend who recently got in ED.

i think they do, to the admissions counselors. when i went to talk to my counselor after decisions came out, she somehow knew all of them, and asked me to verify a few. i assume they use it so that counselors can track chances and such…

they do (10char)

they do b/c my couselor said that i would find out first, but they would know a few days later

That kind of takes the fun out of telling someone that you got in. Again, it makes it less awkward for them if they want to know and you were not accepted.

I believe it depends on the school, and the agreement your school’s college counseling staff has with various universities. My school did not allow itself to be informed of admission decisions by colleges because they believe it is private information and disclosing information to that extent puts pressure on a student. I decided to call my college counselor and tell him early (before I returned from our family vacation) just to show my appreciation for his support.

Lets say a student got into Princeton or Harvard, but changed his/her mind and decided to go to UC Santa Cruz without telling anyone. Having college counseling officials know of the offers would cause problems in that regard and could embarrass the student when it is not necessary.
