Does PSAT scores just jump?

Yeah. So do most PSAT scores jump naturally from sophomore to junior years? Like without a lot of studying? For example, if you have a 185 ish, can you just “jump” to a 220??

That depends on how much experience and wisdom you gain during that year

I went from 163 PSAT to a 2010 presently

Haha it can jump if you learned alot over the year. Take a practice psat or sat and see for your self.

Your score will go up naturally as you learn more math, especially, but I wouldn’t count on a 35-point jump.

I think the yearly PSAT score “jump” can be attributed to the learning that goes on at school.

If you don’t take a rigorous courseload that emphasizes English and math, then you probably won’t see a significant jump. I had a great English teacher for sophomore year, and he’s the reason behind my huge CR gains.

Not likely.

I did no prep between the 2009 and 2010 PSAT (freshman to soph year) and went from 169 to 181.

Grammatical error in title. Get off my tip.

Haha thank you ^

As far as I am concerned, the Psat scores dont jump alone by themselves.

I went from 177 sophomore year to 211 junior year with no prep, but then again i under performed on my sophomore sitting

My 8th grade PSAT was a 176, while my freshman PSAT was a 205. No studying for either. So I jumped 29 points over a year without any PSAT-specific studying.

I’d guess my improvement was simply due to my more difficult classes in English and math, which broadened my knowledge base regarding the two subjects. So yes, it’s possible to jump significantly in a year sans studying.

I went from a 650 CR SAT to a 760 CR SAT in a released test after a span of 3 months. Idk how

Naturally improving can only go so far. Sure it will happen but in order to go for the goal you want you should do a little studying or at least some practice tests

lol yes. I am planning to study. But I’m doubting if I can reach 210 by this year /:

I just scored a 188 on a practice test…

It definately jumps…If you study

I started soph with around a 178. The weekend (lol) before the junior psats i looked at some writing guidlines and scored around a 190. The sats in may of my junior year I scored 1990 (tbh I let myself down. If I lived up to my bb standards I should have gotten between 2050 and 2150,).

For the may sats I took 6-7 practice tests from the bluebook.

I’ve taken about 3 tests from the online course this past month and have scored around 2140, 2150, 2270.

My plan is to take a test a day until september, knock out my school assignments, and take a test every 2/3 days untill the october sats come.

Practice will definately help you. Gl =)
