does reapplying to colleges/ universities help chances of being accepted???

I was waitlisted and/or denied as freshman applicant from:
Lehigh University, Vassar College, Brown University, NYU

Could this possibly help my chances when applying as a transfer??? Also, how do my chances seem:

College GPA by the end of the semester: 3.45-3.5 (2 bad grades first semester in classes that don’t really pertain to my major)
Major GPA: closer to a 3.7-3.8
HS Ranking: top 20%
SAT: 2020

These may be reaches, but I’d rather stay at my current school than apply to safeties. However, the school I am currently going to doesn’t have a major that I would like to switch into (I wasn’t even considering this major in high school). Coincidentally, a lot of the schools I was not accepted to as a freshman have the major, which is why I am applying again lols.

Got a 4.0 this semester, which brought be up to a 3.5. Chances for umich, lehigh, nyu, and vassar as a transfer? (I also applied to these schools as a sr in hs)

What is your major/what program are you applying to at these schools?

@Wolverine251 I’m currently majoring in chem, and I’m interested in switching over to language and mind at nyu and cognitive science at the other three.
