Does short answer have to be creative?

This is my paragraph for the short answer on the common app elaborating on an activity I do.

I have been a member of the Hunterdon Symphony Orchestra as a violinist since 2007. I joined to get experience in performing challenging orchestral music. Though we are only a community orchestra, the music is taken seriously. Throughout the year, we perform the challenging, original works of composers such as Sibelius, Grieg, Mozart, and Tchaikovsky. Rehearsals and concerts are held throughout the year. Every other summer, the orchestra hosts trips to different countries. This summer, 2008, I traveled with the orchestra traveled to St. Petersburg, Russia. The musical experience was phenomenal. Russian audiences were receptive and appreciative of classical music. The orchestra played at three locations: Peterhoff (palace of Peter the Great), the Church of St. Peter, and Tsarkoeselo (summer palaces of the tsars). My time in the Hunterdon Symphony has been truly rewarding, for I have improved as a musician.

Is this okay? It’s a bit cut and dry though… should I make it more creative?

I don’t know about other people, but mine wasn’t particularly creative.

i love yours, mine was more dry. honestly there is no room for creativity with 150 words

i love grieg

and i think it’s awesome you got to play at Peter the Great’s palace!

to answer your question, i chose to make mine more creative. i didnt want readers to be saying “oh, just another essay about researching…how boring…”

Thanks guys for your feedback!

Well… it can be creative and should be creative, shorter essays are awful to write due to their word limits but you should certainly exploit language to its fullest extent so that your essays are memorable, on the positive side.
