So I’m a going to be a freshman next year, but I skipped 8th grade. I’ve been looking at colleges because the school conseulor told me that even at the beginning at high school I should be looking at colleges. I was looking at Brown’s website and it was love at first sight. Everything about the school apealed to me: the free-flowing curriculum, the locatation, the professors, their good neuroscience department, and etc. So I’ve been wondering does skipping a grade, having good EC (I hate to be snotty about this but I bet I have better EC then some juniors and seniors), and having good grade, increase your chances of going to Brown?

By the way, this really isn’t a chance thread.

Well obviously having good EC’s and grades will help your chances. As for skipping a grade, I imagine it might make an interesting essay topic, but beyond that, it’s unlikely that it’ll help your application in any tangible way.

I don’t think it would.

oh well I else It’ll help in some way. :)

One of the first things Brown admissions looks at is your transcript, so having good grades in a challenging curriculum is essential – but it doesn’t improve your chances, because just about everyone who gets into Brown has good grades in rigorous classes.

Brown doesn’t really care about what happened academically before high school, so the fact you skipped eighth grade will probably not even make it into your application, and so will have no effect whatsoever on your admission.

Sorry I’m going off on a tangent, but does Brown have a lot of students from the Middle East? (I’m turkish, so just wondering)
