okay so i am in the scholars program at my school, and i am taking ap classes and in senior year all of my classes are either college or ap classes. also, all of the college credits i will be recieving is done through st. john’s anyway. the issue is, i did horrible on my two regent tests (Living Environment and Algebra 1). i am a nyc resident and my gpa is about a 3.6. will these two regent grades really change the chances of me getting in?
To answer the question in the title of your post, I would assume that New York colleges would always look at Regents scores; after all, they are on your transcript. To answer the question in your post, will bad Regents scores affect your chances, I would say it depends on what major you are applying for, your overall grades in math and science, your standardized test scores, and what you mean by “horrible” scores. In other words, Regents scores are one factor, but admissions offices will look at many factors. Not a definitive answer, I know, but i don’t think anyone could tell you what St. John’s would do except St. John’s.
Trust me, St Johns is one of those schools that will probably accept anything. I did really bad on my Regents also (73 on physics, 77 on living environment) and I got accepted with a great scholarship.
They look at them but it is not a huge factor. Your actual class grades are more important.
