Does Stanford allow pets?

Namely, dogs? I have a small dog (roughly Chihuahua sized) who I hope to bring with me to college. Are there pet friendly dorms? She is well-trained and very timid and gentle, so it is unlikely she will cause problems.
I realize that top schools are something of a seller’s market so it’s not something I would make a fuss over, but I’m, nonethless, curious.

As a freshman, really? I would assume off campus housing is your choice.

No, they do not, as is the case with the majority of colleges in the country.

IIRC, it’s something like a $100 fine if they catch you with a pet in your dorm. Service animals are an exception though, if you’d like to pull an extensive “I’m blind” ruse. I’m not sure a Chihuahua-sized dog would be too convincing in such a role though.

Also, @CADREAMIN, you are required to live on campus your first year at Stanford.

Are there pet friendly apartments nearby?

[Apartments that Accept Pets | Student Housing](http://www.stanford.edu/dept/rde/cgi-bin/drupal/housing/community-housing/apartments-accept-pets)

Yes, there are, but as I said before, you are required to live on campus your first year at Stanford. Also, I can personally attest that, even after your first year, you don’t want to live off-campus.

Alright. Thanks for the information. I was perhaps thinking about doing so during the years after freshman year, but if the campus life is as great as you say, I will probably reconsider.

A chihuahua at Stanford? OP is your name Elle Woods by any chance? :)

Considering that Stanford has so much Taco Bell-inspired architecture, I would think a chihuahua would be given special consideration.

Taco Bell inspired architecture? Lord, give me strength. Apparently Mission Style = Taco Bell. lol

If by some miracle I get in, do you think they would make an exception for coral and anemones? I really want to maintain my new ribbon guppy strain while at school, but I think the closest thing I could pull off for non-pet “decoration” tank is coral  I could always say they were plants and pray whoever caught me didn’t know anything bout bio too.

It is a sad day when Taco Bell is referenced as an architecture style. Honestly, mission revival style to me is just typical California. It’s the awesome Rodin statues that I love, plus you can always go to Legion of H if you want more :D

^amen, my friend. amen.

That was hilarious. haha.

Are small pets like tarantulas allowed?
I have a small rose-hair tarantula named Damascus that I’d like to bring.

You can bring along the 100 trillion microorganisms that populate your digestive tract, but you have to fill out a separate application for each one, so better get started now.
