Does taking just one summer class look bad?

It seems that most summer students take at least 2 courses, so would just taking one come off as a sign of weakness/laziness? I figure by just taking one, I can focus more on research I’m doing.

Of course it wouldn’t look bad. Most people don’t take any summer classes, so the fact that you’re taking the initiative to enroll in even one speaks volumes. And research is a perfectly good way to spend your summer.

Who do you think is going to worry about this - your grad school choices?

Nobody cares. Take as many or as few as you need.

no. it does not look bad.

No, it doesn’t look bad at all.

I’m taking only one class this summer and I’m also working 4 days a week.
