Does TAP really matter?

I didn’t pay attention to TAP for the other UC’s since UCLA TAP did not cover me as a film major. But I keep hearing about TAP and wondering if it really boosts you that much?

Not to be arrogant, but I feel confident in my UC resume and didn’t really care to do a TAP.

well at my school, 90% of the people who are TAP got into UCB and/or UCLA

Nah, I mean like, if one is not TAP, will that make a dent on the overall application.

not being TAP won’t hurt you but it would definitely increase your chances if you were.

^^^^Thanks ;)

^^ well in effect it does hurt not having TAP. They wont look at your app and say “this guy/girl doesn’t have TAP! Thats a mark against him/her.” TAP students have an edge over you, and seeing that there are only a limited number of acceptance spots…but TAP is most helpful in “borderline cases.” If your absolutly solid don’t worry about it.

TAP isnt especially important for the film major either.

UCLA last year accepted 15 out of 541 film/TV transfers (2.77%) and I believe a lot more weight is put on the creative writing sample/essays and interview.

^ that’s because TAP doesn’t cover film. It only covers College of Letters and Science.
